There is a Kite Festival on St Annes beach Sept 13th till 15th. Illuminated Kites will be flown on the evening of the 13th.

He’s touring in support of his new book: Happy Mondays - and Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays.

Fans can look forward to a carnival of excess, wild tales, and improbable truths, as they enjoy the talents of a unique rock'n'roll star dubbed Britpop's answer to WB Yeats.

A Mayor for all Lancashire?

Merseyside and Greater Manchester have had powerful Mayors for some years. Wyre, Fylde and Blackpool have always had a ceremonial Mayor changing every year. But the various councils from Burnley to South Ribble, have never agreed on one person, having any real power.

It now appears the new Labour Government, are going to oblige Lancashire, to catch up with Manchester. The reason is simple, Labour is confident their candidate would win. They are also confident that they will take control of Lancashire County Council in the elections due in May 2025.

I would expect the election for the Lancashire Executive Mayor, to be on the same day as the Lancashire County Council elections. I also expect the government to announce that the position will be merged that of Police and Crime Commissioner. What do you think?
